This post needs a short explanation.

On the 20th of Dec. Andrew and I flew to Dallas to attend our friend Phil's wedding. We got to hang out with some of our favorite people...Amber and Vernon along with Titus and Justus. Then Josh, Michelle and Fred picked us up at the reception and we drove back together the same day. We were able to be together till Dec 29th. The cool thing about being able to drive for 9 hours with them was being able to talk about all the stuff that we had looked forward to talking about. So when we got to be together in KC and in Imperial, we were able to do some things that we don't normally get to do.

So, Josh and I together are actually really creative. So we started experimenting with light in photography. I had recently been inspired by Sesha to take a look at some night scapes that she had been working on...gorgeous. So I was thinking about the light and when Josh and I got talking and working one thing led to another and this is the result.

All of these images are just as they were taken. I didn't do any post work.

This is a joke. One time I said "honey, will turn up the heat...and Ben did it." Which started a silly song that went like this.

Christmas photos with the family...

So as most people know, I love to take photos of myself with other people this way... me holding the camera. So Fred and I were taking photos of ourselves, I couldn't believe that he was smiling with me, but the best part is that...

after seeing me do it, he gave it a try...only thing is, his arms are a bit shorter than mine, so he pushed the button and his face is really close to the lens! I love it though!!

There are some days that I just can't stand stand how much I miss these kids. My brother, Fred and Michele are some of my favorite people in the world. I just wish we were closer so that we could share life regularly...but for now, I have these sweet, sweet images that I look at when I miss them.

So we were in Nashville for National youth workers convention. I was challenged so hard this year. I heard some amazing speakers and some that I didn't agree with, but knew that the things that I heard that I didn't agree with, would only challenge me! I heard from Andrew Marin, Walt Meuller, Dan Kimball, Francis Collins, Francis Chan, Tony Campolo, Shane Claiborne, Mark Yaconelli, Mike Pilavachi, Danielle Strickland, and Mark Oestreicher.

BUT what made it really fun, was hanging out with and meeting new friends. We met up with our friends Kenny Foster and his girlfriend who we had never met before, Sarah Winne. (in the photo with Andrew) We got to see a bit of Nashville with them. We also got to meet Jo and Chris who I have known for a little over a year through blog life, but actually got to spend some time with in real life! It was so wonderful to finally meet my new friends! And...Nashville is pretty great.

So, I understand that I have not blogged in over a month. I apologize. My only excuse is the holidays! but enough of that. It is a new year and I am going to be posting quite a bit here cause I have a lot of photos to put up! So, keep on coming back!
This post takes us back to right around Thanksgiving. I did some photos for Matt and Jodi's Christmas Cards, and if you got one, you probably saw some of these.

This lovely Turkey (and many more of them) was made by my sister-in-law, Jen Beard. They were our place setting cards...and really cute! Hope your thanksgiving was wonderful!

Greatest Date Ever!

If you are married and you don't go on dates...you need to make a change and re-prioritize! DATES are the best. Andrew and I work together everyday all day, and we have to make time to go on dates so that we are talking about things other than work and so that we are having some fun that is induced by us, rather than by the students that surround us all the time! So, last night Andrew took me on the best date ever.

Let me start by saying that over the years that Andrew and I have been Dating and Married...even on our first date ever...when he tries to plan a date for me that I don't know about, an art museum is always involved, but it is almost always closed or for some reason something happens and we don't make it...

So last night Andrew and I started early and we went to the Melting pot for happy hour. 1/2 price cheese and chocolate!! so yummy! so we left there and started driving. We were really close to the Art Museum and so I joked. "are we gonna go to the art museum?" followed by a laugh. He replies "I haven't told you anything we are doing, why would I tell you know?" (as he pulled into the museum parking lot.)

We get out of the car and he says..."I am really excited about this"

I'm like...It's the art museum.

So we walk in and stroll down the hall in the new modern side of the museum. And then I stop in my tracks as I see this name printed on the wall... Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison...I know that I have posted about this man and wife art team before, but i have to say, These are my favorite artists and I have never seen their work in person before...only books and websites. Well, they have an exhibit up from Now till Feb 8th, so if you are in KC, you have to go see it. I was nearly screaming when I got to see it, I was jumping, I got all flushed, and my heart fluttered for the rest of the night! Andrew bought me a book and it happens to be signed, which is cool, but sort of sad, cause I didn't actually get to meet them. This is one of the pieces that was up, and You really should check out the link and see some more images and read the artists statement! ahhh... so cool!

Then we went over to Kansas to see this freak show of a Christmas house. This man has been decorating the outside of his house for over 35 years (so a local woman tells me.)

It was a little scary, I will not lie! But you couldn't help but to laugh out loud at the ridiculousness that it is!
